Checking CVS for the first time in several weeks today, I was surprised to discover that there had been no commits in all that time. Surprising since many changes had been discussed here over that period. Anyway I re-discovered that a long while ago I had put this in my /etc/hosts: 130.225.13.222 cvs.winehq.com presumably at a time when the main CVS was inaccessible. This address still holds a CVS repository for Wine but doesn't seem to be kept up to date. I hope no-one else has made the same mistake ;-) Dave Pickles

Hi Eric, Probably a bit of overzealous use of occam's razor. It was being set to zero on the client side, and passed into the server. I wasn't quite sure what to do with it ... so i removed it. Good day! Okay, I reported it, attached is an unexpurgated --debugmsg +edit trace of me trying to open the lcc-win/lccpub/bin/wedit.hlp file from ftp://ftp.mathematik.tu-darmstadt.de/pub/linux/bonnes/lcc-bin-alpha.tar.gz with wine's builtin winhelp program. Current cvs, no windows, no fat nor nt filesystems. Kernel 2.4.10 with devfs and devfsd. [DllOverrides] "*" = "builtin, so, native" I would be happy to make other traces, but probably this is easy to duplicate. Just to add insult to injury, I will attach a backtrace of winhelp trying to work with terminal.hlp (from wfw 3.11, I think). In case anyone is really short on things to debug. Regards, Lawson

dosmem

In my quest to get helppc running and working in wine, I noticed that it tries to access the text mode buffer directly (b000, I think). This memory doesn't seem to be emulated in dosmem.c and my exploration into how to implement it were in vein. Could anybody please help? Anyway on another note, to get the program to exectute this far I had to add a hack to vga.c. What the program was doing, was, it waited until the light pen trigger was set, when it read the light pen trigger set (bit 1) from the vga status register (3da) and then it would wait until it was unset again. I've attached a patch to solve this problem, but its definatly not the right way of doing it, anyway see what you think. So far, I have gotten things from: 1)John E. Adams(provided an ole-dump utility) 2)Martin Schwartz's document 3)libole2 4)The Filters Project I was wondering if the wine developers, have any source documentation to share? Also which modules contain the ole source code in CVS? CVS, diffs, and a newbie (me)

What is the proper way to submit a patch to wine? Do you need a special password to use cvs commit or can you only mail in diffs? How do you make a propper diff (yeah, I'm really new at this)? If someone could just add the needed 'fi' to the end of tools/winelauncher.in I'd be happy too :).

well there should be some info on www.winehq.com (development or tools part). basically, patches are generated with cvs diff -u and sent to wine-patches(a)winehq.com the project leader takes care of putting them into cvs A+ > What is the proper way to submit a patch to wine? I've heard rumors of projects or programs that would enable Posix in dos, is this possible? There is one project that provides Posix support for Mac that I think everyone should be aware of. PATCH: Wininet + gethostbyname problem

Hi there, this patch fixes the shockwave activex control installer. 1. basically it calls gethostbyname("pinger.macromedia.com:80"); my patch just skips the :80 so that the gethostbyname call won't fail.... 2, it also fixes non-absolute urls before it made ugly things like pub/foobar/blah with my patch it's corrected to /pub/foobar... can't debug mfc program

Hi! I am trying compile a mfc program with winelib. Well, i compiled the part of mfc which i need for use the program whitout erros or unresolved functions and compiled the mfc program with the libmfc.so without errors or unresolved functions, but when i ran the mfc program hapned "Segmentation Fault". I tried use gdb and winedbg but i can't run these debuggers, with gdb happned "Segmentation Fault" with or without breakpoints in the begining of the source and winedbg write only the first line in the window and go out. i tried use strace and "--debugmsg +all". HeapAlloc HeapAlloc *killed* exit_code=0 #./program #Segmentation fault (core dump) #gdb program core #Reading symbols /usr/local/lib/libntdll.so ...... I'm not trying to push; I'd just like to know. Does anyone have an idea how long it will be before EnableWindow can enable a window in another process. Bill

InstallShield 6 again (debuggers requested)

Here are some kludgy patches (against the current WineHQ CVS) that's supposed to make InstallShield 6 with its stupid interprocess COM sort of work, but it doesn't for some reason, probably because of something else in Wine that's broken... and because of a lack of time, I think I really need some debugging assistance. Most of these patches are too ugly to be submitted to the official wine as-is, I'll clean these parts up later, but probably not before InstallShield has been debugged and actually works with these hacks. To make this run, you need to copy stdole32.tlb from a real windows and put into c:\windows\system. Then run your favorite InstallShield 6 setup.exe and wait for it to crash. --debugmsg +ole is recommended. It crashes for me after about 25 remote method calls. If you find out why, let me know. Please.
