I have argumented for a vkd3d release in time for wine 7.0, so hopefully this will happen.
In the meantime, it should not be too cumbersome to build yourself, although it requires some manual replacing of systemlibs/binaries.. depending on distro ofc.
You should not need to rebuild wine, as long as wine is built with vkd3d_1.2 in the first place, which i guess it would be for OpenSuse 5.3.
I own Diablo II remastered myself, so i can check if i get it working with vkd3d(from WineHQ GIT) when i come home later today, and let you know if it is worth doing in the first place.

- Is vkd3d "release 1.2"? (It was not immediately clear to me if OpenSuse
package was built from GIT or release) If so, it is appx 1 year old, and has hundreds of commits after that, most likely very needed to run anything useful. You need either a pre-compiled GIT release, or compile yourself from GIT source.
Yes, it's 1.2. Could we have a new release in such case? Distros are usually more happy to package release than a "random" git commit.
I'll see if I can use vkd3d from master, I guess it'll require me to compile vkd3d and then also recopmile wine. I'll see if I can manage that.
