I test Curse of Monkey Island now and then, and with the latest CVS update, and some before, starting the game yields a black screen. However, moving the mouse around causes err:ntdll:RtlpWaitForCriticalSection section 0x40360be8 "?" wait timed out, retrying (60 sec) fs=027f and when the debugger starts later on the game starts.
Any ideas?
