As it is, the DCE-RPC code already in Wine CVS is more than enough for now. If we need to extend it later using code from FreeDCE may be possible, but right now we :
b) Have a DCOM implementation that does not use RPC
? uhn??
sorry, are you saying that no data goes out over-the-wire over a network, in your implementation?
as i understand it, the only way for DCOM to not use RPC is for you to implement COM, not DCOM.
Just to make this point perfectly clear *WE ARE WRITING CODE THAT DOES NOT EXIST ELSEWHERE*.
from what rob has said, i am sorry to have to inform you that that is not _entirely_ accurate, but i appreciate your effort to reassure me that it is, and i _do_ recognise that there is no free software implementation of IMonikers, etc. all those bits.
however, there _is_ overlap, and you _have_ duplicated the efforts of FreeDCE wrt the IDL compiler.
as i mentioned about the sharp requirement for "interoperability", if you have stuck to the _exact_ letter of the IDL file format, and other areas, making it possible to use either your home-grown IDL compiler or dceidl _should_ be a trivial task.
if you know of any source of funds that can be made available and put mine and wez's way, i would be delighted to assist you in merging what you have with FreeDCE, such that the Wine project can benefit from automatically receiving NTLMSSP and "Named Pipe" compatibility, and network capability.
for free.
