I don't know if it's related but I recently had to forcefully set 
GALLIUM_DRIVER=llvmpipe environment variable when running stuff on 
Xephyr or over ssh X11 forwarding. Otherwise Mesa was crashing trying to 
instantiate a d3d12 driver (!!).
