Now, if someone would like to offer a *technically competent* argument as to why mapping a drive letter to / is bad, I'd love to hear it.
Basically, adding '/' as a drive is to help people which are not able to properly configure / install Wine (and who do not understand the 'Drive' error message).
So it will mask other bugs like games checking that their data file are on a CD-Rom and failing because the data is accessed via the '/' overide and not the CD-Rom path.
So I mostly object for aesthetically reasons (ie as we emulate Windows, be as kludgy as Windows : use drive letters :-) ). For a Winelib application, I would agree with Dimi though.
And finally, as for Wine hurting your FS, there is the famous '!$!$!$!$.cfr' bug when running Eplorer with Wine. I have no idea if it could also break something in your Linux FS though :-)
