We don't use CVS anymore. Now we use git. You need to first upgrade to git, then modify the .gitignore file.

Obviously I use CVS and the ? ......fake status reports are a nuissance. The fact you don't care about CVS doesn't mean everybody has to switch, especially since git isn't supported as widely as CVS.
Can someone clarify if there's a relation between .gitignore and .cvsignore files? Are they synchronized somehow?
If .cvsignore is generated from .gitignore then there's something wrong.
If .cvsignore files are stored separately in CVS then the patch can be applied only there by AJ (I've seen the repository being locked by user "juillard" while applying the patches).
