Intellectual-property-oriented businesses might not be so happy philosophically with the LGPL, but if you believe the arguments of Patrik and Roger from Dec 18th or so, which say the LGPL is powerless to prevent companies from linking in proprietary extensions, they ought to be able to cope.
If this is true, why change the license? The proposal to change the license sited that the LGPL would prevent this. Since it does not appear that it can, there is no reason to change what is working just fine.
It may not matter too much how IP-oriented businesses feel about the issue, since (according to many prognosticators) the future is in services.
I feel quite certain the LGPL sets up a framework which will result in increased contributions to the Wine project, and maximizes the likelihood of a vibrant Wine community and happy Wine users.
