I got a message at start of netscape 'DDE done with INITIATE but no server window available' that causes a plug-in not to start correctly.
are you sure that the two events are related ? (for example, did you try to disable the plugin and see if the message still appears)
can you tell me the app and topic netscape is trying to connect to ?
