I wouldn't call the DIB engine a hack. A large piece of code not accepted into official WineHQ, sure.
Even the author considers it a *bit* of one :-)
Without starting a huge side argument, until a proper way is known, it can't really be a hack.
Besides...the test suite passes with it :-).
