Winemaker doesn't work in the latest CVS. When I run it, it tells me:
Global symbol "$app_name" requires explicit package name at /usr/local/bin/winemaker line 1674. Execution of /usr/local/bin/winemaker aborted due to compilation errors.
It worked as of Sept 10.

Yes, some of the patches I sent have been applied but not all of them and apparently I had incorrectly cut things down.
Martin Wilck has since sent a patch to fix this issue but it has not been applied yet.

Actually it has just been applied to CVS.
