If we are going to have wineconf here, I need to know a date and a more or less precise number of participants, possibly within a few days.

I think this works exactly the other way around.
You set the date according to what is best accepted at the local place. You also give a rough estimate of how many will participate, according to past years exeprience and a rough survey here.
Bear in mind that many people will only be able to know whether they participate after they know the date, and possibly only much later than that.
That said - will someone who attended the previous wineconf tell us how many people participated then? How many days of conference can we make it?

There were about 30-40 people (attendance differed on the 2 days); it was a 2 day event. Bear in mind that 20 of those folks had their travel paid for, but I think 30 is a good rough number.
I think 2 days is good.
At the last Wineconf, we had a fair number of 'presentations', and I think we might do better with a bit less of that, and a bit more 'working sessions'.
My pet idea was to have an 'installfest', perhaps the night before, where we brought a stack of CDs and had Aric and Marcus and all other install experts work feverishly to get as many of them as possible to install.
Cheers,
Jer

Hi,
Were going to have a vote on where its held. So I would only suggest you not get ahead of your self.
If my memory is correct Jeremy ask for everyone who is seriouse about this to send him there proposal by tonight.
Then we can set up a simple poll and vote...
I should also point out he is willing to pay for a meeting hall, food, "some ground/air transportation" barter for a group disscount on lodging....... and draft a itinerary.
So I ask you to send what you plan to pay for when you send your proposal, and a draft of your itinerary. So this can be posted somewhere so all "seriouse" attendees can review it.
I propose the poll be weighted and here is my proposal
Core developers = 3 votes Casual contributors = 2 vote new/low volume contributors = 1 vote
And the vote be held this coming friday, and leave the poll open for only 3 days. Then on monday we can see the resaults and go from there!
WineConf 2004 page somewhere on WineHQ ??

I think this is an excellent idea, except I was planning on starting the poll tomorrow morning (I'm terrified someone *else* is going to volunteer).
I do plan on weighting, using an ordered list of committed patches for 'weighting' a contributor.
Again, I think the key is to hold Wineconf in the place where the most Wine contributors would most like to go.
What's great, imo, is that we've got built in selection for where the next few Wineconf's will be held <grin>.
I'll put up a page up shortly...
Cheers,
Jeremy
