Hi,
my NaturallySpeaking 8 does (after installing IE) not really start to install:
err:ole:marshal_object couldn't get IPSFactory buffer for interface {00000131-0000-0000-c000-000000000046} err:ole:marshal_object couldn't get IPSFactory buffer for interface {00000131-0000-0000-c000-000000000046}
err:ole:proxy_manager_create_ifproxy Could not get IPSFactoryBuffer for interface {00000131-0000-0000-c000-000000000046}, error 0x80040155 err:ole:CoUnmarshalInterface IMarshal::UnmarshalInterface failed, 0x80040155
and a dialog is displayed:
The InstallShield Engine (iKernel.exe) could not be launched. (0x80040155)
Google had some hits - but no real solution.

Ouhm - now there was some better google hit:
http://bylands.dur.ac.uk/~mh/wine-faq.html
Reinstalling (I already did many times) this dcom98 helped ... :
WINEDLLOVERRIDES="ole32=n" wine dcom98.exe.
Though now the Ali USB 2.0 stack that the installer wants to install tells me the OS is not supported ...

What about this one:

Your wine installation is not upgraded to the newest state ;)
Please run "wineprefixcreate" and then the above setup.exe again.
Ciao, Marcus

That does not give the solution - does it?

Well - I used 20041201 to get IE installed (needed for the NS installer). And updated again - but I did not run:
Please run "wineprefixcreate" and then the above setup.exe again.
Now if I would find out why the setup.exe does want to install a USB stack that does not like to install ... - under the crossover demo the USB stack installer does not come up - however the installation does abort there quickly too with:
Error applying transforms. Verify that the specified transform paths are valid.
But my hope is that this migh not happen with latest wine ... - maybe I'm a bit too optmistic here - and I need to get this usb stack installation avoided in one way or another first ... :-(

Strange :/
Btw, the USB stack has no chance to work at the moment, since we do not support USB drivers.

Of course I do not care at all about the Ali EHCI USB stack - I would give anything for an checkbox to deselect ... - so far I have not find out what file or registry entry it checks. However using the crossover registry and fakewindow C: for wine does not satisfy the installer to not try installing it.

Hi all,
wine d:\setup.exe (from Naturally Speaking 7):

Is this also suppost to work with recent Wine versions and wineprefixcreate run?
I already removed any wine file and rebuild the latest snapshot from source, run wineprefixcreate and those still show up.
However with my previous IE+mplayer2+acad huge wine-c the installer runs. Apparently it does not appear to be a config difference - so most probably some installed dll in this other huge wine-c?

Apply the hack below and it will work.

Indeed - that let's the installer come up in an fresh .wine and wine-c.
Thanks!

Yep , this was my gut feeling about v8. Next you will find it wants xp-only video features for the traing videos you dont even want to see, etc etc....
It probably wants to make use you have usb "just incase" you try to use a usb mike.
I had none of this installing V7.

Yeah ... Though if I get one of those running I would use a Bluetooth headset - just that Wine would only see it thru ALSAs OSS emulation ... But of course first I need to get it running at all.
Btw. I called Scansoft on Monday and asked about their Linux support. The woman on the phone from the German office appeared well informed and told me it would be possible to dictate under Wine but not to navigate. I wonder what version they tested.
In the meantime I noticed AutoCAD is suppost to work these days and verified with an old Version 14 release, that I still had from my technical drafting work:
http://ec-outpost.dyndns.org/acad-wine-t2.png
When I last tried to install it in Wine (1999 or 2000 so ...) it installed but did not start up with lots of OLE whatever errors ...

Google had some hits - but no real solution.
The problem is that COM can't find a registered IPSFactoryBuffer for the IRemUnknown interface. The settings are stored in the registry and should be there after registering the DLL. The solution is to run "regsvr32 ole32". This is done automatically for any Wine installed in the last 4 months or so.
