It does complain about everything that is considered important. If there are more things that you think should have complaints, please report them.
Maintainer mode adds checks for things like fontforge and icotool that matter only to myself and to people working on fonts or icons; they are irrelevant for end users. Asking users to enable maintainer mode is only going to cause trouble for them.
