I've emailed a couple of people today to get an idea of what has changed between 1.0 and 1.2 so we can start to compile the important improvements. Hopefully this can be expanded upon pretty quickly.

Collating and looking at the main features/updates in the release announcements (the 5/6 bullet items at the top) that Alexandre produces might be a good start.

Already done. I'm looking to try and fill out a WWN for this friday and then use the information from it as the basis to add to the release page. Plus just compiling the list isn't enough, many of the points need clarification so you have to go through the patch list to see who contributed what and contact them. When I've done it I'll add it to that page though it is pretty low priority for me.
Also if any one knows anything about the WineTestBot could they have a go at turning the section on it at http://wiki.winehq.org/RecentNewsQueue into a news item. It is definitely worth mentioning for 1.2 but I'm not interested enough to investigate it. I'm happy to reformat what you write in to a more 'news looking' story if needed.

I really think it would be very beneficial to go into some detail on the 64-bit support. In particular, it would be a good idea to outline the expected user experience when running a 64-bit app.
