so what's the secret? i'm using a windows-less environment, so is there maybe something i need to do to get ie55 and outlook running? (coppy DLLs from somewhere?)

Look in the app database, there are some instructions how you may be successfull :)

you mean if i can read around the browser holy war that some idiot started up there? is there anyone who admins that who could delete the irrelevant garbage from there?

A lot has changed in Wine since then, so you should be able to install IE 5.5 without the native ole32.dll/rpcrt4.dll that are named in the message....

Oh well, it's been ages since I advocate to remove ALL possibilities of forums / comments from the App Database but nobody listens :-)

The idea all along was to have an app maintainer that could moderate things, I could see that pruning arguments wouldn't be an awful thing.
Also, the design also was to have stale ratings and comments evaporate. Sadly, we lost the momentum to fully follow through on that (@#$@# pressures of making a living <grin>).
I still think it's a good idea, and I think that there is easy room to accomodate more workers on the app db, so anyone lurking can feel free to volunteer... (just email appdb@winehq.com)
