Hi Andrew,
I was warned at the time that the return code of this class of functions had particularly crack-like properties, however a test case on Win98 and WinXP appeared to show that this was the right code. Clearly however it caused a regression, as a few days ago I also saw a problem with 16 bit file open dialogs no longer showing directory lists.
Can you confirm that ChessBase Light is a 16 bit app? The file open dialog should look like an old win3.1 dialog if so, rather than a 9x/NT4 style dialog.
If there is a downloadable demo of this app this would also be useful.
thanks -mike

Dear Mike,
I hope you do not mind me e-mailing you directly, but I have been trying to track down a bug associated with the Directory pane of a File Open Dialog ceasing to update properly (Wine bug #1435) and believe that you are the man to contact.
I do not have the expertise to solve the problem myself, but I wound back the CVS and discovered that the bug was introduced on 4th April 2003, between 16:00 and 17:00 CST. By examining the Changelog, I noticed that you had submitted modifications to 'dos_fs.c'. I substituted the old dos_fs.c into the post-bug build and found that the bug had disappeared. Thus, it appears that the bug was introduced via that file at that time.
Please could you have a look to see if you can identify the problem? I can happily tell you how to get the problem to manifest itself, if necessary.
Thanks and regards,
