For the record, I consider the need for winetricks a bug in wine. Someday we'll figure out how to make apps install properly without it.

And, as befits such an advanced tool, I'm keeping a revision history in the highly advanced "rcs" revision control system (that's a joke, btw). Here's the history so far:
