I've managed to cleanup my changes. Currently only this 3-line patch is required to compile putty under Winelib. The way it works is that you simply uncomment 2 (two) lines in the Makefile.cyg file, and do the usual: make -f Makefile.cyg to compile under Wine. This has the advantage that you don't need to maintain a Wine-only Makefile that is quite likely to get bitrotten sooner rather than later.
