Okay, I can see the warnings now. Turns out I wasn't actually compiling with GStreamer support; I think ./configure had been rerun automatically and so I needed to run `PKG_CONFIG_PATH=/usr/lib32/pkgconfig ./configure`. Thanks for catching this mistake.
