I may be on the wrong list.
A program I use has shown a backward step in graphics between Wine 0.9.15 and 0.9.16, and I am trying to find the change responsible. I currently have Wine set as at 2006-06-21 16:21:20 CDT, it is identifying as 0.9.16, and the fault is present. The Web site says to get the CVS history from the mailing list archives, but the archive is only up to mid-2005.
What is the best way to step backwards?
Doug.
well check this link out http://wiki.winehq.org/GitWine, in it Section 6 raise a bug in Bugzilla, http://bugzilla.winehq.org and also discuss any usage issues in wine-users@winehq.org
Thanks, VJ

Well. I didn't expect this.
I ran git with 0.9.15 as good and 0.9.16 as bad. I then did a bisect and compiled the split in a separate directory. It ran O.K. The result of the next split was:
38b43cae82e288557d7119e988d1d22f9799d553 was both good and bad.
It surprised me that it was O.K., because my previous tests indicated that it was not much higher than the 0.9.15 release, and the Wiki indicated that the first split would be in the middle.
I must confess that I can't find my way around the tree, even with qgit. According to qgit, my lower limit is Release 991212 and my Master Origin is a patch by Clinton Simposon on riched20 dated 23/08/06 (Aug 23 2006).

If you want to continue with CVS, you are apparently looking at the "old" CVS archive, at: http://www.winehq.org/hypermail/wine-cvs/2005/05/index.html The new one is current, and at (pipermail vs hypermail): http://www.winehq.org/pipermail/wine-cvs/2006-August/thread.html Also, if you like a newsreader interface: news://news.gmane.org/gmane.comp.emulators.wine.cvs
Thanks Duane. I got git up and running. The apparently conflicting result I got as reported in my reply to Vijay is explained (?) by the fact that installing the version makes all the difference. When I run Version 0.9.20 from its own directory, I see the images. If I install it then run it as usual, the images in question are not visible. I will take it back to the newsgroup, where I have given a full description. It looked like a regression until I discovered this extra circumstance this morning.
I tried gmane without success. In retrospect, I should have added gmane as a second server to my leafnode setup.

Ignore my last mail. I was running wine without the initial ./ . The executable was from 0.9.14 which works. 0.9.20 doesn't. I will shut up until I have double-checked everything. No need to waste everybody's time.

The application is "BigJig" from http://www.lenagames.com/bigjig.htm.
The problem I have I can demonstrate from that page. Up to version 0.9.15, the screenshot "Open Jigsaw window" at the bottom of the page, would show all the thumbnails of jigsaws. I couldn't get the other images to load, but Reln could.
After 0.9.15, only the selected jigsaw (top left corner) is visible. Its thumbnail in the grid is a cross-hatched area. Other thumbnails are blank. I can still navigate with difficulty, but seeing all the thumbnails is far easier.
This is about the only app I run under Wine.
I am doing a second run of bisecting with git.

Yes, it's clearly a regression. Please open a bugreport for it in bugzilla, and do the regression test. Regards
Thanks Loiuis. Will do. I am not a programmer, but will do the best I can. I will unsubscribe from this list.
