I'd like to make another observation regarding the file selection dialog.
If I mount my CDROM drive and add a link to /dosdevices/, Wine's regedit.exe hangs in the file open dialog.
I can do "ls /mnt/cdrom" in an xterm with no problems at all.
So my first thought is that the CDROM has a bad block, and that it happens to be inside one of the .exe files in the root of the CD, exactly where it has it's icon resource.
I did a "cp /mnt/cdrom/* /root" which revealed that autorun.inf has bad blocks.
Not a big problem so far. But now take a look at "top", specifically "wine-preloader": ============================================= top - 14:45:02 up 31 min, 5 users, load average: 1.56, 0.77, 0.35 Tasks: 90 total, 1 running, 89 sleeping, 0 stopped, 0 zombie Cpu(s): 1.8% us, 1.5% sy, 0.0% ni, 43.8% id, 52.6% wa, 0.3% hi, 0.0% si Mem: 513656k total, 508708k used, 4948k free, 1712k buffers Swap: 1052216k total, 245348k used, 806868k free, 57676k cached

'wine-preloader' is at 2.2 GB, with 360 MB of those resident. And it's running regedit.exe.
If anyone can give me any pointers about where or how to fix this, I'd be happy to take a look. Otherwise it'll go to Bugzilla (where I'll probably have to create an account - sigh ;-)).
