I'm a bit confused. Wine will load gecko itself on demand, why do you need it in winetricks? Presumably to get rid of the mouse click required when Wine autodownloads gecko?
Your patch seems ok but I wonder if exposing details about how gecko is installed is a good idea. It'd be nice for wine to offer a quiet mode for gecko installation itself. Winetricks really is for third party stuff wine doesn't have control over.
Also, are you planning to also add the flashplayer to winetricks? I didn't quite understand your comment.
Finally, James is right, winetricks patches may as well go straight to me... - Dan

OK, I added gecko. I had to double some backslashes, please check my work...

I installed Firefox from the feisty-dvd in wine and watching a flash-video. Worked after downloading and installing the plugin.
Then i tried plain wine and the result was: "Click here to get the Plugin" and "After installing the plugin, click here"
The "Download now" at the "Adobe Flash Player Download Center: Windows" does also not work, so i want to give winetricks a try
1: Use a clean wine 2: install gecko (winetricks gecko) 3: install the flash player
wine iexplore.exe \ http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=<your_prefered_id>
It works!
