Good day!
regapi still works. My little winelib program exits with no error, but leaves a stale socket and does nothing. juno.exe, progman, I_view32.exe, and Dmitry's little About.exe leave a stuck wine process and a stale wineserver socket. I expect there is general consternation, or else it has been fixed already, but I guess I will have to reverse the patch to see.
general consternation ? Well, I have about 20 test apps and 2 don't start anymore, the rest working as well as before. That's pretty ordinary ;-)
I'm not completely sure if the patch is the culprit (I use Cvs and I get several patches at the same time).
I don't have the time to investigate further right now. More later.

I guess I panicked. Everything I tried failed immediately and left a stale socket. I won't say the patch is a culprit, but reversing it cures the problem. I apply patches in batches too, as they hit the wine-cvs ML, but that was the only one in the batch to touch the server. I guess I will have to apply it again and run some traces. +sevver and what else, I wonder.

Hmmm, I put the patch back, and took desktop= out of the config. The problem only happens in desktop mode. That is not so bad, I don't have to spend 45 minutes reverting the patch just to get mail. Still, I guess I should try to debug it.

Here, in case anybody is interested, is a +server,+relay trace of wine about.exe kernel32.dll "Desktop" = "800x600" about.exe is Dmitry's little About.exe he sent to wine-devel some fairly long time ago. It's not immediately obvious to me why the server terminates and leaves a stale socket while wine is waiting for it. Maybe a trace of it working without Desktop will tell me something.

Maybe pigs will fly.
