Hi,
I am having real issue with this list, I can't distinguish betweeen list mail, other email and spam. Why is there no prefix [wine-devel] in the subject line?
Also I don't particularly like the reply-to setup here, can't it just be munged back to the list, rather than replying to an individual?
And finally, why does it take half a day for a post I've made to ping back to my email inbox?
This list seems to be in some kind of 1990's time warp of usability.
Can it be changed?
Kind regards, K,

The List-Id: header is the canonical way to do.

Everyone else is fine by it.

It likely was in the moderation queue for some reason. All your latest mails seem to have arrived in time.

It would just be nice to visually identify when something is wine related. All other lists I've used to this, it just makes sense to me. The list-id header doesn't appear to be set on my full headers output. I'd still like to have [wine-devel] prepended to the subject line, I get lots of list mail and like to when someone emails me personally or via the list.

I had this same argument, along with many other users of the lcdproc mailing list, most _users_ agreed, but the two list admins refused to change it. I think its best to mung the reply, its my personal preference but its not as important as the subject line issue. Having said that, the lcdproc guys also let unsubscribed users email into the list, resulting in a massive increase in spam to my mailbox.

Yes, it seems to be arriving OK now...

You are subscribed to the list as karl--at--qdh.org.uk, but mostly (like now) sending emails as karl--at--nncc.info. When you send email from an unsubscribed address, it goes to the moderation queue. Manual intervention is then required before your message gets sent on to the list. How long that takes depends on when the moderators get around to it.
If you want to continue using both addresses, the solution is to subscribe both addresses. Assuming you don't want two copies of postings sent to you, go to your settings page for one of the addresses, and turn off "Mail delivery".

Ah, dual accounts on one server in evolution, this explains it! Doh!
Thanks for the heads up, I probably wouldn't have noticed otherwise.
K,
I use GMail, and i can filter by subject or by "to:" header... but not "cc:"...
some emails get filtered, and some don't so i need to keep sorting them.

In the To: line for the filter put "*) AND cc:(wine-devel@winehq.org" to create a cc: filter.

In my gmail I am only filtering by to. I think to works for cc as well. The problem might be that some users for some strange reason send list mail to winehq.com instead of winehq.org -- like now we are all replying to a subthread Duane started by sending one to winehq.com. So in my filter I have:
To:(wine-devel@winehq.com OR wine-devel@winehq.org)
Gmail also:
To: wine-devel
just does any domain.

Actually I'd prefer it to only reply to the list as well.

I'd prefer to keep it like it is. Mutt has a "group reply" feature that works just fine and I think most other email clients have that, too.

Yes, most do, and I am using one that does (Thunderbird), but out of habit, I hit the reply button instead of reply to all, and it's annoying having to either close the new mail window and click reply to all, or manually type in wine-devel, and of course if I forget both, I have to go to my sent mail and forward it, removing all of the stuff that makes it look like a forward.

Use a mail client that can filter by To: fields.

The reply-to setup here is exactly as it should be. Munging reply-to addresses is one of the worst things a mailing list can do. Read this for more info: http://www.unicom.com/pw/reply-to-harmful.html
And finally, why does it take half a day for a post I've made to ping back to my email inbox?
No idea. If you're subscribed there should be only a minimal delay. I don't see when my mails area returned to me, so it could be a global thing.

I never see ANY of the posts I make once I make them. Could be a setting of my email client to not fetch email I sent myself, but seems unlikey cause GMail's web interface never claims to have anything from myself.

I think GMail drops mails sent by your own account (does the same for me) because when I was subscribed to wine-devel thru yahoo, I always received my own emails, and it drove me nuts.

That must be the case. I know that if i explicitly email myself, it shows up in my Inbox, but Thunderbird never collects it. Useful for gmailfs stuffs
