On December 1-2, OSDL is hosting a meeting for the desktop architects from the various Linux desktop organizations to help decide on ways to improve and promote Linux on the Desktop. An electronic copy of the invitation can be found at the following URL. This contains a full agenda, preparation info, and logistical info.

If anyone from wine is interested in participating, they are encouraging everyone to register for the meetings. They will be limiting attendance to 45, so they may only be able to accept 2 or 3 from every desktop organization, but they need your name on the list. A finalized list of attendees will be sent out afterwards. To register go to the following web site:

I think it would be a great if someone from Wine could attend, but given that it's in Portland I'm not sure anyone is nearby. Would it be possible to set up a conference phone to call into for a session or two? I'm thinking the most useful thing to hear would be the freedesktop.org session at 10:30 on the 1st. If so, I nominate Jeremy White to sit in.

I'm looking into getting on a plane (have to ask my wife first :-/); failing that, a phone connection would be great.
Cheers,
Jeremy

I have made travel arrangements and will be there on December 1 and 2.
If anyone else from the Wine project wanted to join me (c'mon Dan, you know you want to <grin>), that'd be fun.
I know that I personally have concerns with:
1. Seeing Freedesktop standards get adopted
2. The OpenGL extension we need (I forget the details, but afair, Lionel has a nice proposal somewhere).
3. Issues to keep glibc and kernel changes from breaking Wine, as they oh so often do.
If folks were to chime in on this thread with further issues that I should bring up on Wine's behalf, that would be great.
Cheers,
Jeremy
