Hi there.
I want to offer 100 EUR for a fix for bug #1973. It's not much, and I have no idea how complicated the bug is to fix, but maybe it's only trivial problem. A demo is available for download, and I guess most comments in the bugreport are wrong/ irrelevant anyway. So, if anyone is interested, I'll pay 50 EUR for the patch, and another 50 EUR once/ if it gets commited - if possible via Paypal.
I'm sorry if a request like that is not allowed/ wanted, I couldn't find any info regarding bounties on bugfixes.
Ciao, Willie

The URL in Bugzilla is 404 again.

Thanks for the info. It seems direct downloads are not possible anymore. Here's a working link (also added to the bug report):

No, I'd say if anything, then the OSS area should see *more* bounties, certainly not less! (I cannot even remember the last Wine bug bounty...)
Thank you for your contribution towards improving the Open Source ecosystem!

I'm glad you see it that way - yes, I think bounties may help, but I'm also afraid bouties (not donations) may become problematic once developers expect them. Any bug fixed, even for rare applications, should improve Wine as a whole IMHO.
That specific bug bugs me :-) since Mirage got released, it would work perfectly for my needs once this issue gets fixed. The main problem seems to be that only two applications show this behaviour (Mirage and DAZ|Studio), and a workaround exists for one of them (DAZ|Studio, set WINVER to win98 - plus it's unusable anyway, due to the window management/ OpenGL problem). OTOH, if it really needs the DIB engine to work (I doubt it, but I'm not sure), 100 EUR (about $ 110) are definitely not enough, but I can't afford to spend more, given that I don't expect to earn money with Mirage on Wine - whatever, the DIB engine is needed anyway in the future...

Some more info: I tried to 'break' x11drv to always return 32 for GetDeviceCaps(BITSPIXEL), which breaks Mirage in an interesting way. It now draws the splash/ startup menu background correcty (dark gray, instead of the broken dark blue it usually shows), as well as the small video clip at the top of that menu (that one always gets drawn correctly), but all other widgets (text, buttons) are missing. So, the drawing seems to be correct until the video clip shows up, and then something messes up everything but the clip. Aura uses basically the same startup menu, including the video, but gets drawn correctly. A demo of Aura is available at ftp://ftp.newtek.com/pub/Aura/Patches/AVP25_installer.exe - if someone needs to check for differences.
BTW, I would be very thankful if someone could tell me if he looked (or intends to look) into the issue, and could tell his findings.
Thanks, Willie
