Note on the wireless at the hotel

Folks, We had a miscommunication on wireless at the hotel. It'll be available in the conference room during Wineconf, but it'll cost you $10 / day to have it in your room. Sorry for the hassle. (But $99 is a great rate for downtown Minneapolis, and they are great rooms. Really.) Cheers, Jeremy

Video recording the keynote

Hi, I had planned to video record the keynote this year. As I can't be there this year perhaps someone else could do it... I know the consensus is usually "be there or be square" ;) but the current technology should make it pretty easy and non intrusive. My concept would have been: Simple recording device, Simple setup. * Small HD video camcorders are all the rage these days, if someone has one for usage, this could be it. * If using a Digital Still Camera: Do not record HD as this is limited to 5 minutes usually (due to license issues of h.264). Use smaller resolution 640x480 which is motion jpeg but usually the camera takes video as long as it fits the SD card. * Or... using a Android phone or iPhone or other video capable smartphone. My Samsung Galaxy S2 seems to be able record video with just the memory as limitation. (Test if it takes video longer than 5 minutes a piece before using ;) * Do from first or second seating row to get sound, just make sure Alexandre is in frame ;) * Slides recognizability is not necessary (hoping that Alexandre uploads them later on). * All likely possible without a tripod. * Just the keynote would make all not coming folks feel in touch. :) Ciao, Marcus

Make test agenda item

Folks, The agenda is fairly empty, so I think having a make test fest is a good idea. Last time I checked in, we had a non zero of computers other than Alexandre's successfully running make test to completion. It would be nice if, before you arrived on Saturday, you could run Winetest once so that your system is on record on test.winehq.org. (Instructions here http://wiki.winehq.org/ConformanceTests; I believe the Running WineTest in Wine provides the right directions). Dan has also set an ambitious goal of identifying and squeezing out flaky tests. It would be great if everyone could also run his script: http://kegel.com/wine/loop-fail.sh.txt and send him the results. Cheers, Jeremy

Wineconf details

Alright, just four days to go! Here are some details: 1. I'm planning on being in the hotel bar late on Friday afternoon. We will leave a sign with our location if we're not all congregated there when you arrive. 2. The conference will officially start at 9:00 on Saturday. There will be a continental breakfast served in the conference room at 8:00 am. 3. If you need anything while in town, feel free to hit my cell; +1 651-503-7877. 4. Hotel Deal for WineConf is expiring this Friday - book now!

Folks, The hotel is going to release the special deal hold we have on rooms this Friday. So if you haven't booked a room yet, I'm afraid the rate is likely to jump up starting Friday. So...I would stop procrastinating, and get a room. To make matters even trickier, it is important that you call, rather than do it over the internet, and you have to make sure to talk to staff at the hotel, not someone at the national chain headquarters. Only the local staff has the Wineconf deal information ($99/night). So, call now, 1-612-332-6800, operators are standing by! Cheers, Jeremy
