Hi, Thanks for a great conference! 2025 Talk Proposal: Minimal Protonification

I would like to talk about the specifics / oddities of Proton: 1. the environment - Steam Runtime 2. the steam.exe shim + lsteamclient 3. the Steam integration patches for Wine I want to explain what those are for, how to work with them and how to rebase the minimal set of changes to get current Wine upstream master running your games. -- Cheers, Arek

WineConf 2025 venue change

Folks, We were recently notified by The Mercure Hotel, where WineConf was going to be held, that their renovations have gone sideways and they've had to move us to the NH Den Haag hotel: https://www.nh-hotels.com/en/hotel/nh-den-haag It's not too far from the previous location, and actually closer to the train station so hopefully it won't be too much of an inconvenience. All the other details (dates etc.) are staying the same. The WineConf wiki page has been updated with the new information. We are also working on the agenda, and will put it up on the wiki page once it's finalized. If you volunteered to give a talk, I'll be contacting you shortly to work out the details. Announcing WineConf 2025

Folks, It's been a while, so it's time for another WineConf! Given that a large proportion of the Wine devs are working for CodeWeavers, we thought that we'd do WineConf right after our annual company meeting, to take advantage of most people being in town already. So the plan is to hold WineConf on Saturday September 27, 2025. The location is The Hague, Netherlands. In fact it will be the exact same venue as WineConf 2018, which I'm sure many of you remember fondly ;-) You can find all the details here: https://gitlab.winehq.org/wine/wine/-/wikis/WineConf/WineConf-2025 Please note that we ask people to register so that we can get a headcount for the hotel. The pandemic wasn't "over" that long and I noticed quite high flight prices to Minnesota for the WineConf dates. Maybe there was some other, bigger event? The original plan for this year was Japan, which would be really interesting, but I guess flight prices would be high as well from USA and Europe at least. FOSDEM 2023

This year FOSDEM will once again take place in Brussels, on February 4 and 5. The Wine project won't have an official presence at the conference this year, but a (modest) number of us do intend to visit Brussels during that time. Is anyone else already planning to attend this year? Like previous conferences, you'll be able to find most of us in the #wineconf:matrix.org Matrix room. Henri
