Warning on trains and Google

I think this has been mentioned elsewhere, but I thought it worth repeating: Google apparently does not have a relationship with the Vienna transport folks, so Google maps transit routing is pretty bad. There also appear to be a plethora of choices of ways to get from the airport to the hotel. Two, count 'em, two, trains, and a bus, without even getting to taxis or other options. I stashed what I learned via Google on the WineConf2015 page. (My plan is to take the OBB S7 train to Wien Mitte, and then the U3 to Westbahnhof and the hotel). Cheers, Jeremy

Lunch Friday

I will be starving when I arrive in Vienna. For me and the three other people who will be checking into the hotel at about 2pm on Friday, would you like to find a place to eat a late lunch and then go tour the city? I am open to eating and touring pretty much anywhere, although I would like to go for a ride on the giant ferris wheel or take a tour of the Schönbrunn Palace. -Alex

I’m already at Vienna, travelling around since Saturday. I have a tour scheduled tomorrow morning till evening (around 6 I guess) and another one day after, which should end earlier than tomorrow's. I can meet you tomorrow evening onwards :) Cheers, Aaryaman

Arrival times

I think it's nice to have a list of when people are expecting to arrive. I'm getting in on Thursday at 1:30 pm. I plan to hang out as late as I can stay awake on Thursday, and then be a tourist on Friday. I think my main plan for Friday is to hit the Schloss Schonbrunn, and then maybe the town center a bit. Assuming his flight makes it okay, I think Nikolay is hoping to join me on Friday. Then we generally gather at the hotel on Friday, usually starting in the late afternoon. Cheers, Jeremy

Arrival time in Vienna

I'm coming in to Vienna a day early (arriving 1:30 pm on Thursday), mostly because my kids aren't little anymore, so I can afford the time. It also makes the transition easier on my aging bones. So I'll be playing the tourist on that Friday if anyone else is around. Cheers, Jeremy

Is anyone looking to share a hotel room?

Hi, Would anyone like to share a hotel room with me? A single room is 109€ and a double room is 135€, so if we shared then another person and I would only have to pay 67.50€ each per night. Jeremy White also suggested staying at the Hostel Ruthensteiner, I'm just concerned that staying at a hostel would make me lose valuable time together with the other Wine developers. -Alex
