[Bug 1076] - msvcrt dont start under new Version of wine (20021007)
by wine-bugs@winehq.com

No, that's expected behaviour (even with 20020904).
I'd explained the exact issue in a mail to you on Oct. 25th.
Summary: remove msvcrt.dll from program directory, have msvcrt.dll in Windows
system directory, make sure msvcrt.dll is set to native, and *then* it'll work.

msvcrt.dll was installed in program directory. By this feature wine could not
start. Now itŽs removed from program directory an the application works in this
case. In Version 20020904 of Wine it had worked with msvcrt.dll installed in
program directory. The DLL was declareted as native in wine20020904 and
20021219.
(Tested on Intel SuSE Linux 8.1 )Thanks to Andy for Support.

Small problem for latest wine release
by Fabrizio Mazzoni
Hi all , i found that the last release available of wine will not compile because the file tools/make_ctests is not set as executable. So if you compile wine without issuing a chmod +x tools/make_ctests, the compile will fail.
Regards,
Fabrizio Mazzoni

[Bug 251] - codeweavers-wine does not install regapi and uninstaller
by wine-bugs@winehq.com
http://bugs.winehq.com/show_bug.cgi?id=251
------- Additional Comments From skippy(a)skippy.net 2002-12-30 08:17 -------
The installation instructions
(http://www.winehq.com/Docs/wine-user/no-windows.shtml) suggest the following:
programs/regapi/regapi setValue < winedefault.reg
This consistently failed for me until I added a [Drive X] section in ~/.wine for
the directory containing my Wine source (in my case, /usr/local/src/wine-20021219).
By "consistently failed" I mean that it produced an error message, and did not
build the default registry. I do not have the error message handy.

[Bug 1207] New: - eMule on wine 20021219 mmaps 1.1Gigs of RAM, crashes
by wine-bugs@winehq.com
http://bugs.winehq.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1207
Summary: eMule on wine 20021219 mmaps 1.1Gigs of RAM, crashes
Product: Wine
Version: CVS
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: wine-binary
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.com
ReportedBy: creinig(a)sunsite.dk
Tried running eMule (0.23a/0.23b/0.24b/0.23b-Tarod (see
http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=53489&release_id=1298…))
with wine 20021219. The last few syscalls shown by strace are:
mprotect(0x41500000, 65536, PROT_READ|PROT_WRITE|PROT_EXEC) = 0
mmap2(NULL, 1179385856, PROT_NONE, MAP_PRIVATE|MAP_ANONYMOUS, -1, 0) = 0x65530000
munmap(0xab9e0000, 65536) = 0
old_mmap(NULL, 290816, PROT_READ|PROT_WRITE, MAP_PRIVATE|MAP_ANONYMOUS, -1, 0) =
0x41725000
mprotect(0x65530000, 1179320320, PROT_READ|PROT_WRITE|PROT_EXEC) = 0
+++ killed by SIGKILL +++
Especially the last one is interesting - it eats up all memory (I have 512MB RAM
plus 200MB Swap), leading to wine's/emule's death.
This should be the same problem as described at
http://appdb.winehq.org/appview.php?appId=1065&versionId=1430
It *could* be related to an error reported by winecheck:
023. Checking availability of winedefault.reg entries... CRITICAL (entry
"SHAREDMEMLOCATION" not found in system.reg registry file).
- ADVICE: file winedefault.reg, the most basic wine registry environment,
doesn't seem to have been applied using regapi.
I couldn't find anything regarding that in the docs, but tried to follow the
advice anyway, with less-than-optimal results:
chris(a)chrisbig > programs/regapi/regapi winedefault.reg

[Bug 1135] - WinISO 5.3: Menus doesn't working
by wine-bugs@winehq.com
http://bugs.winehq.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1135
------- Additional Comments From andi(a)rhlx01.fht-esslingen.de 2002-12-28 04:25 -------
This could be due to missing CreateMenu/DestroyMenu state memorizing
functionality that is implemented from Win9x on (Win 3.x didn't have that).
(implementing this properly is difficult, since it's unknown how exactly to do that)
Another programs affected by this is FilZip 2.01 (IIRC).
Another program with non-working menus is reported to be QuoteTracker.

[Bug 952] - Wine and The Bat!
by wine-bugs@winehq.com
http://bugs.winehq.com/show_bug.cgi?id=952
------- Additional Comments From michaell(a)spiritshigh.com 2002-12-27 14:22 -------
That patch worked. The Bat installed correctly and is working near flawlessly.
The most notable defect is only visual, the edge of the toolbars doesn't redraw
correctly.
Thanks!

[Bug 1204] New: - Winesetup: (easy) sets registry settings before choosing Windows install
by wine-bugs@winehq.com
http://bugs.winehq.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1204
Summary: Winesetup: (easy) sets registry settings before choosing

Product: Wine
Version: 20020904
Platform: PC

Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: minor
Priority: P2

I just started using wine. I wanted to run VB but still be logged in to
Linux(RH8 2.4.14-18kern). I'm a 1st year programming student and I'm in a VB
class.. so naturally I wanted to run it in a superior environment (thanks BTW).
Anyhow, I have both Win XP and Win ME installed, and a "Working Model Edition"
VB6 from the book. The Win XP(FAT32) is on the same drive as Linux, and Win ME
is installed on a second drive, all setup in my /etc/fstab to automount. When I
run winesetup for the first time, it sees Win XP and thus gets the wrong
settings(if any). If I dismount the Win XP partition and overwrite the
configuration, it gets the settings from Win ME. THE NEXT SCREEN is where you
choose which Windows install to use. Basically it would make sense to choose
which install to use before detecting the settings. Copy & Pasteable almost?
Thanks.

Can you attach a +ddraw log ?
If possible, use the current CVS tree plus the bunch of Direct3D patches
recently sent to the wine-patches mailing list.

[Bug 952] - Wine and The Bat!
by wine-bugs@winehq.com
http://bugs.winehq.com/show_bug.cgi?id=952
------- Additional Comments From michaell(a)spiritshigh.com 2002-12-25 15:21 -------
I'm using 20021219, and I am unable to install The Bat! v1.62
Do any of the other flavours of wine install it correctly?
It gets part way through the install and then has an address access violation.

[Bug 807] - PowerBuilder 6.0 generated applications crash accessing date fields
by wine-bugs@winehq.com
http://bugs.winehq.com/show_bug.cgi?id=807
------- Additional Comments From richc(a)columbiaconsulting.cc 2002-12-25 10:07 -------
Using a normal edit and format and mask may work if I had access to the
applications source. However this is a commercial application based on
Powerbuilder and Sybase server that I am trying to get running on wine. I just
tried 20021223 Cvs no help. Is there any information as to where in the win 32
api that this is failing? I have tried most debugging and have gooton no closer
to putting my finger on where it is pulling the bad data.

[Bug 1200] New: - list view not drawn correctly
by wine-bugs@winehq.com
http://bugs.winehq.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1200
Summary: list view not drawn correctly
Product: Wine
Version: CVS
Platform: PC
URL: http://www.winmx.com/download/
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: wine-gui
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.com
ReportedBy: john(a)pond-weed.com
Running WinMX version 3.31, the list of shared files and the search results are not drawn correctly: only the last line in the list is readable. It looks like each line is being over-written as soon as it has been drawn.
This problem goes away if I use the native (win98) comctl32.dll
I'm using the CVS tarball of 19 Dec 2002.
This looks like a duplicate of bug 1033. Maybe whoever marked that bug as fixed did not test with the built-in comctl32.

[Bug 807] - PowerBuilder 6.0 generated applications crash accessing date fields
by wine-bugs@winehq.com
http://bugs.winehq.com/show_bug.cgi?id=807
------- Additional Comments From bruce.armstrong(a)teamsybase.com 2002-12-23 17:58 -------
Try using a 'normal' edit style and a format mask rather than an date edit
control. It seems to be specifically the edit control (either stand alone or
in a datawindow) that causes the crash.
