However ... Using the same cvs tarball for two diff boxes, I get: under slack 9.0-Beta, GCC 3.2.2: - no other args passed to configure except "--with-opengl", it compiles fine. - passing the same args to configure as rpm would have, it FAILS. Under Red Hat 8.0, GCC 3.2-7 - no other args passed to configure excetp "--witih-opengl", it compiles fine - passing the same args to configure as rpm would have, it FAILS After many, many compiles (thank gawd for 4-ways :-), the problem apears to be the use of "-pipe". I'm not a compiler expert by any means, but my understanding is that should not affect a compile at all. It is strictly to avoid creating and removing temp files.
