The game uses Bink video and Smack video technologies to play in-game videos. Smack video/sound support (used on in-game videos) and Bink music (used in the main menu music theme) works like a charm, but Bink video (used in the animated main menu background) makes the game freeze (and sound collapse) for 10-15 seconds every time the background animation finishes and replays it. In Windows 98 it never happened (well, at least in the time when I used to play the game. It uses a Win95 application, C-W95.exe, to make the connection. I've used this application successfully under Win98SE and Win2K, but I can't make it work under Wine. The program starts fine, but insists it can not find the camera. I posted this problem previously in the Usenet group comp.emulators.ms-windows.wine, where Rein Klazes was kind enough to help me troubleshoot.
