So it's definitely NOT a hardware issue, and the kernel and xorg are just the vanilla ones supplied by the distro. So I'd say the issue lies with wine. I think this would be a problem with working directories or something. I've seen it in two applicaitons: Reason (3.0), when choosing a song from the list of recent files, and an application called "Runeword Wizard", when running. In the case of "Runeword Wizard", there are three .dat files with data the app uses. These files reside in the same directory as the app itself. When I start the app with Wine, I get three popups that say "File not found". My theory is that the applications tries to access the files with a relative path, and that this is not identical between Windows and Wine. That's a very bad sign: *all* the Wine tests should pass cleanly, otherwise the apps that actually use the functionality the tests are exercising will fail in a million of hardly debuggable weird ways.
