I honestly didn't think that old trick would work. This makes me think the problem is hiding somewhere in ntdll. Perhaps a memory leak. It may be worth watching RAM levels on an ssh session from a laptop Similar issues to this have occurred before and people have said "That doesn't mean it's in NTDLL!!!" So it might not be. But it can't be completely ruled out yet.
