And native dinput just makes it a bit better, but does not fix the problem. So it is something else, not the dinput. Vitaliy's right, winetricks is not for casual use, that's why it has no doc nor overview. And he's right that we prefer logs to be attached. Offhand, though, it looks like msxml3 is still builtin, as is ole. Initially had the same problem as was reported in bug # 5415. Followed through to comment #12 utilizing "winetricks" as was suggested. After which I was able to accomplish a load with two icons on the desktop. Did not have any of the difficulties with the EULA or other observations that were made on 04-03-2007 {comment #13}.
