I hit the jackpot by using the free version of dinput8.dll located at http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?dinput8 It fixed the key commands perfectly, and with the setup that I'm using, the application runs perfectly. I cannot guarantee that there will be the same degree of success with other processor / video card combinations, or other operating systems. I get even a little more output (rest of messages is the same): fixme:crypt:CertNameToStrW unsupported flags: 12000000 err:ole:COMPOBJ_DllList_Add couldn't load in-process dll L"mstask.dll" the first line is repeated a few dozen times.
