While this looks correct at first glance, because WINE's secur32.dll currently has no Negotiate provider, but instead only an NTLM provider, it is not what applications expect. Since Windows 2000, RPC clients that call RpcBindingSetAuthInfo(Ex) can at least expect that this call succeeds with the selection of NTLM, even in non-domain environments. Therefore WINE's RpcBindingSetAuthInfo(Ex) should make a fallback to RPC_C_AUTHN_WINNT if RPC_C_AUTHN_GSS_NEGOTIATE is requested by the caller but only NTLM is available. I have the game on DVD, and when I install it, it wants to install and update Steam first, and that's when I get the error in this bug. As so many other people have described, I have witnessed the LOTRO client bursting a huge number of UDP packets, flooding my upstream connection and trashing everything in it's path. This even occurred when standing still and not even moving. Booting into WinXP 64bit and running around the same area barely uses more than 15Kbps upstream and never bursts packets at all. I guess I will hold onto this old WinXP partition a while longer...:( --- Comment #44 from Richard <anthonyd182(a)gmail.com> 2008-07-01 12:47:13 --- One thing I have noticed with this issue, is that in my case I have noticed that the game begins to have large amounts of packet loss only when I do actions that require extra data upload to the server (ex: Attacking enemys, looting corpses). If I do not do anything at all and just stand in one spot, I get relatively low % packet loss ( 0.9 to 20% ).
