Setting Alsa sound driver in Winecfg solved a lot of problems - "stealing" sound by Steam and launching some games such as Everyday Shooter. There's no need to use padsp wrapper anymore. This program uses parts of gdiplus which is not implemented yet. Running without a native gdiplus.dll does not work at all. With a native gdiplus.dll it worked fine with 0.9.52, after some workarounds with the font registry as described in the AppDB entry. With 1.0 however, as soon as one tries to enter a text string one gets an error window: Access violation at address 70D375A4 in module 'gdiplus.dll'. Read of address 00000048.
