[Bug 14490] Corel Presentations: Unhandled Exception in strlen

by wine-bugs＠winehq.org

http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=14490 --- Comment #9 from Forester <pbronline-wine(a)yahoo.co.uk> 2009-02-01 09:46:16 --- Created an attachment (id=19151) --> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=19151) Crash traceback, Wine 1.1.14, WINEDEBUG=+tid,+relay,+text Thanks for taking an interest. Any help finding the root cause of this one would be appreciated. I attach the log you ask for (I hope). This was generated again Wine 1.1.14. I fear it will not tell you very much. My reading of this is that the crash comes from a bum string pointer (value 0x6261) being a passed to strlen() by DrawTextA(), which has been passed the pointer by the application. The magic value 0x6261 appears nowhere else in the trace. The previous call to DrawTextA() has the same parameter values expect for the string address. There the address 0x0. Benign but hardly purposeful. This suggests to me that we are seeing the consequences of an earlier corruption of memory. I don't know how to start looking for this kind of problem under Wine. I can tell you that this crash is merely an easy to reproduce example of a general malaise affecting this particular application. It seems many (if not all) pop-up windows that present a series of tabs will crash. I've have them crash without displaying anything, I've had then crash after displaying just the first tab, I've had them crash after display gibberish (non-latin text) in the tab labels and I've even had them crash when everything looks OK. This particular example is a common (suite wide) settings dialogue. WordPerfect does not crash, Presentations does crash. The dialogue looks the same (common code ?). If this is corruption, it is not ramdon. The magic 0x6261 turns up in another trace I have - different version of the application, different version of Wine, different host machine, different Linux distribution etc. etc. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

[Bug 12701] watchtower library - listview works slow and wrong

by wine-bugs＠winehq.org

http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=12701 --- Comment #12 from Igor Tarasov <tarasov.igor(a)gmail.com> 2009-02-01 08:34:11 --- The patch works, but kinda weird. It searches when I type "a", "ab", but when I add "r" it cant find anything, while there are dozen of words starting with "abr" in the list. I just don't understand how is this possible. And typing letters quickly does not help. Sometimes it helps (maximim 2 letters at once), but generally it makes full search for each typed in letter (if you type 3 letters quickly it does 3 full searches). And regarding slowdowns. I was curious, does native comctl32 fetches each item in cycle via notification when searching. So, I've installed native comctl32 and made a test run generating +message log. I've launched the application, opened that listview, entered couple of letters, closed it. With native comctl log size was ~4,5 Mb. So, I did the same with builtin version. The final log was 360+Mb. It's clear that virtual listview should not send that crazy amount of messages. BTW, most part of that log (over 300+) was generated after I closed that listview. That means that I was right, now we have to avoid that it virtual listviews will get quick. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

[Bug 17222] New: Extreme slowness in multiple games - nVidia/KDE4/openSUSE

by wine-bugs＠winehq.org

http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=17222 Summary: Extreme slowness in multiple games - nVidia/KDE4/openSUSE Product: Wine Version: 1.1.14 Platform: PC OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org ReportedBy: chris(a)chrobis.com For many of the last few releases of Wine (somewhere not long after 1.0), I've experience extreme slowness across multiple systems and multiple games that wasn't present pre-1.0 or in 1.0 itself. Specifically, I've noted slowness that makes gameplay impossible in: - Age of Empires (1997) - Birth of the Federation (1999) - Age of Empires 2 (1999) - Medieval 2: Total War (2006) - Star Trek: Legacy (2006) The slowdown is significant and affects as you can see a wide range of games on three machines that I own, all of which are more than capable of playing certainly the first few titles on the list. Of the three machines I own and have tested Wine on, the following are common threads: - Running openSUSE 11.0 or 11.1 - Running latest Wine (1.1.14) - Desktop environment is KDE4 (though no improvement running with GNOME) - All nVidia cards (but range from an old FX5200 through to an 8400) - All using Wine, KDE4 and nVidia from openSUSE repositories. That aside, they have nothing in common. Two are 32-bit, one is 64-bit. Two are running relatively old graphics cards, one is running a fairly new one. Two are Intel machines, one is AMD. Two have 512MB of RAM, one has 2GB. I like to do my bit for Wine by filing bug reports for various apps but this slowdown is hindering me somewhat! I don't know a great deal about how to start debugging, but if someone can suggest to me how I can help diagnose this problem, I'd be more than happy to help :) -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

[Bug 16499] Adobe Photoshop CS4 crashes upon using text input tool

by wine-bugs＠winehq.org

http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=16499 --- Comment #33 from Dan Kegel <dank(a)kegel.com> 2009-02-01 08:23:38 --- Adam Eberlin, thanks for the log. You're still crashing with 0009:Call KERNEL32.LoadLibraryA(0eef40a0 "ATMLIB.dll") ret=0ee7ee47 which is a separate problem. I think that was supposed to be installed into the Adobe Photoshop CS4 directory. If it is supposed to be installed, and isn't getting installed, we should open up a separate bug, as this one is awful noisy. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.
