This does not occur in 1024x786 resolution. Attached is the output of wine. Note: Gothic 3 requires two helper dlls to start: d3dx9_36.dll and D3DX9_40.dll. Also note that the menus like inventory are drawn fine in the right stripe. But just the background is not updated (also when a menu is opened). I will attach some screenshots. In that bug report there is no description of sound looping, and the bug reported here does not involve crashes. There is only one passing reference to sound in 15162. In fact, the only similarity I can see between these two bugs is Team Fortress 2. This bug report also includes reference to a relevant communication from Steam.
