YouTube Downloader requires the file download dialog that comes with Internet Explorer, otherwise (with the native shdocvw library in use, since shdocvw.DoFileDownload() is not yet implemented) clicking the Download button will result in the app silently failing to move forth. Installing Internet Explorer supplies the download dialog, which allows YouTube Downloader to function properly. Syswow64 Wineprefix. This behaviour was observed and reported by user Zeb in the comments on the AppDB page for Steam. As one of the maintainers of the Steam client I chose to investigate further (since I could replicate the problem he reported). In the stable release of Wine (1.4.1). The pull-down menu to select between Tools, All Games, etc. is correctly popped up over the main Steam Client window. In the current Git master (as above). This pull-down menu is popped underneath the Steam Client window. This behaviour is best seen in the Small Mode (View menu). The menu is popped under the main window and can be seen sticking out from underneath. I can click on the visible edge of the menu to give it focus. See screenshots for clarification. I have attached the backtrace.txt ... I used winetricks to install directx but it didn't work, I then manually placed that .dll into the game directory next to the executable in ~/.wine/drive_c/Program Files (x86)/Oovee/Spin Tires/ and the game threw these errors... That is because IDirectInputDevice2 is implemented using a WH_KEYBOARD_LL hook and that hook is implemented inside of wine's normal event processing. This problem makes Star Wars: X-wing Alliance unplayable because the user must press the "space" key before a mission starts and that event is never delivered. Some of the other Star Wars spaceflight games are also affected. They hang in some menus while waiting for input. I recommend adding a call to PeekMessage in GetDeviceData and have attached a patch which does that.
