The demo version (v1.1) is not affected. The game is showing several weird error messages when I start a new game, then it crashes. What is the official software? I selected the link to the Downloads page that you gave; I'm surprised, I was unaware that Crossover had anything to do with Wine. (I've heard of both Crossover and Wine but never investigated it) The page doesn't imply that Crossover is the official software though, it says that its owned by a company called CodeWeavers. Is there even an official software? I've only been looking at Wine/Wineskin for a couple days so I don't really know what's going on with it yet. Is this open source, and if so where is the official site/forum for it? I'll check out your Development Links page off the home page. I'll test the engine you linked me too, thanks. I'll check out the git link as well and see what I can learn from that. Thanks for the links and the help. It seems to be a timing issue. The game requests a primary buffer at 32kHz. Before Maarten's patch, the device sample rate was actually changed by this request. After the patch, we don't change the actual sample rate. This causes a change in timing values reported to the application, which behaves badly. Chantelise Demo from http://www.carpefulgur.com/chantelise/downloads.htm starts new game good (without sound but it's another bug) p.s. How can i get good terminal output of Steam game for this bug? I think my prefix with Steam is not clear enough, and in addition i get near the same terminal outputs from Steam and Demo versions. I have modified Alexander's program so that it will send keypresses out over COM1 and therefore can be used with a loopback adapter (connect pins 2 & 3 together).
