On my part it's either a single native d3dx9_42 or d3dcompiler_43+d3dx9_36 (both natives) that fixes the problem. I have tried adding numerous Windows components via winetricks, and the FTM install always fails at the same point. I have tried these installs on both a 32 bit and a 64 bit Ubu14.04, each on a 64-bit cpu, both fail. Since Ancestry.com sells both a Windows And a Mac version, and building a Linux version from the Mac version should be a matter of developer system choice, and after a few years of dealing with a rather prickly Ancestry.com software group, I must conclude that company has some hostility for Linux? Strange.
