I suspect that part of the problem came from changes in the FTB directory structure not being properly handled by the upgrade from V7 to V8 as I had to delete everything related to the app and rebuild from scratch using 1.9.14 to get it all to work. I must say that the wine trace that appears when the app is run from the command line is extremely helpful.
