Install wine-staging 1.9.18 on Ubuntu 16.04.1 1. Install foobar2000 v1.3.10 2. Add some music to a foobar2000 playlist (File -> Add [files/folder]...) 3. Click on a song in the playlist 4. Press Ctrl+c to copy the album/song name 5. Try to paste it into a non-Wine application (note: it does work when pasting into notepad in Wine) 6. Observe lack of anything pasted, and this in the log after after each paste attempt: err:clipboard:X11DRV_CLIPBOARD_ExportString Failed to render 000d format err:clipboard:X11DRV_CLIPBOARD_ExportString Failed to render 000d format err:clipboard:X11DRV_CLIPBOARD_ExportString Failed to render 0001 format This is a regression from wine-staging 1.9.17 to wine-staging 1.9.18. Im using it because at the moment my main drive is broken and im running my computer of an external hard drive that didnt have an OS. My friend recommended linux mint and so here I am. I want to play world of warcraft and am having dificulties with the install. Ive been trying to figure this out for days now and im about ready to throw my PC across the room. please if you know whats going on, give me a hand lol. The error says "The program battle.net has encountered a serious problem and needs to close. Sorry for the inconvenience This can be caused by a problem in the program, or a deficiency in wine. you may want to check the application database for tips about running this application. Upon upgrade, trying to run programs resulted in the following: err:winediag:nulldrv_CreateWindow Application tried to create a window, but no driver could be loaded. err:winediag:nulldrv_CreateWindow The explorer process failed to start. err:ole:apartment_createwindowifneeded CreateWindow failed with error 0 err:ole:apartment_createwindowifneeded CreateWindow failed with error 0 err:ole:apartment_createwindowifneeded CreateWindow failed with error 0 Thinking it was a regression, I activated 1.9.13, but 1.9.13 now had the same problem, leading me to believe that it may not necessarily be Wine itself. I posted in the forums: https://forum.winehq.org/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=27305 Note that 1.9.13 worked as expected before the update. winecfg suffers from the same fate as all other applications with a graphical interface. Applications that normally crash with Wine continue to crash and produce appropriate crash logs. Creating a clean .wine did NOT rectify the problem. Assuming the other forum posts are referring to the same problem, this issue also exists on some Linux distros. In an subsequent installation when the same app (same UpgradeCode, different ProductCode, higher version number) is installed, the MSI option "RemoveExistingProducts" fails. "RemoveExistingProducts" should automatically de-install a former version before the new version is installed. As a consequence always the former version needs to be manually de-install BEFORE the new version otherwise the next installation fails. In addition the Windows call "MsiEnumRelatedProducts" finds a product which does not exist anymore. De-installing with "MsiConfigureProduct (parameter=ProductCode, INSTALLLEVEL_DEFAULT, INSTALLSTATE_ABSENT)" does not work either. Because the MSI uninstaller leaves all ProductCodes of former installations in place forever, the Registry get screwed and is not in sync to what really is installed. This is a big issue for almost every our customer when installing updates or upgrade. Always, the former installation has to be manually de-installed because "RemoveExistingProducts" always fails. We have detected this issue in a deep dive and see this bug to be the biggest issue for our customers for a broader use of our software on Wine. Therefore set this bug to be critical. Please find attached what needs to be deleted in the Registry when the uninstaller de-installs a software. Open it in wine notepad. Scroll down the window by DRAGGING the scroll handle. Around the end of file (~10 pixels on a 800px window), scrolling bugs out and stops while the window shows the top of the file. Scrolling back towards the top "fixes" it.
