I will still stick to they should be fixed, even in a less prioritized way. Somebody has asked a similar question on StackOverflow. All the top voted answers suggest closing the resource anyway. I copied one here. "It depends on the operating system. The majority of modern (and all major) operating systems will free memory not freed by the program when it ends. Relying on this is bad practice and it is better to free it explicitly. The issue isn't just that your code looks bad. You may decide you want to integrate your small program into a larger, long running one. Then a while later you have to spend hours tracking down memory leaks. Relying on a feature of an operating system also makes the code less portable." Problem: Program tries to automatically find serial port, which is emulated by Prolific pl2303 chip. Search is done by inspection of hardware id for every port, listed in registry. Solution: Hardware identification must be added to registry. I’ve just copied related records from windows xp registry to wine, and all works fine. My pl2303_wine_reg.reg file is attached above. I relaunched with "WINEDEBUG=+all", but that resulted in a 7G+ log file I have no idea how to analyze. I need some help, please. I am available to perform any test needed. Host is an up-to-date Debian9 x86_64 installation. With xembedsniproxy running. > Steam Client can ONLY minimise to a system tray (not to a Desktop taskbar / panel) Not only Steam window can be minimized to taskbar and restored from it, but it can also be successfully restored from tray icon, when steam window was actually closed (disappeared from task bar panel). So, this whole patch is not so important, I guess: https://i.imgur.com/8CbP236.png (blurry icon is a consequence of using xembedsniproxy). I suggest you to try vanilla wine from git (no patches) and Plasma with legacy-systray (xembedsniproxy). If it does not work, you can killall xembedsniproxy, restart wine and a separate wine systray popup window should appear, it should always work as last resort.
