I'm hopeful that it will improve crackling and sound drops that users have had with certain hardware when using the winepulse driver, especially USB audio devices. It may also improve the experience of switching output devices in pulseaudio mixers like pavucontrol at runtime. You might attach your patch there for documentation/testing. Anyway the driver won't be useful at all by design. The more serious issue is actually the installer.
