As soon as WS_MINIMIZE is set, the Windows program expects its window to be minimized and not receive any input or expose events. If we wait for the WM to change our window state, we would be waiting forever. Other than that, I don't see why there would be a race condition when the WM sets WM_STATE from normal to normal. It's possible there's a race condition on the win32 side (in wine or the application). It gives an error saying "Failed to create deferred context", followed by some file/line information and the error code -2147467263, which corresponds to E_NOTIMPL (0x80004001). And sure enough, d3d11_device_CreateDeferredContext is a stub returning E_NOTIMPL. The program doesn't add the combobox items the usual way, instead it enumerates the window to get the combobox, and then sends the listbox the new elements directly. However, this only works when it finds the combobox properly - but the name was mispelled as "Combobox" while it should be "ComboBox". Patch to fix the issue: https://source.winehq.org/patches/data/150043 Note that you will need a proper rebuild, or it won't work.
