It appears to still be a mix of NET Framework and Delphi components. It has both online and offline installers (URL link is to offline installer, 2.1GB). It requires a registration code to use the app but this is prompted after launch. The offline installer works without problems but includes NET Framework 2.6.1 which doesn't install properly (as per NET Framework Setup Verification Tool) so winetricks is needed: winetricks -q corefonts dotnet461 Upon execution the app (X2.EXE) page faults after the splash screen. Occurs with both dev and staging. In jpeg_decoder_initialize, the values for cinfo.output_width and cinfo.output_height are retrieved directly from a jpeg file's header. cinfo.output_width and cinfo.output_height can be manipulated by editing the header of the jpeg file being processed. They are two bytes each in the image's header so their values can range from 0x0000 to 0xFFFF. These variables are multiplied with frame.bpp. When these three values are multiplied together they can exceed the limit of a 32-bit unsigned integer, leading to an integer overflow vulnerability. This product is used to set the size of the image_data buffer, which will store the decompressed jpeg (https://github.com/wine-mirror/wine/blob/master/dlls/windowscodecs/libjpeg.…) When the sizing arguments overflow, the buffer becomes too small to store the decompressed data. The program writes the decompressed image to the buffer using the jpeg_read_scanlines function. The function ends up writing to out-of-bounds memory due to the buffer’s small size (https://github.com/wine-mirror/wine/blob/master/dlls/windowscodecs/libjpeg.…) This causes data in memory adjacent to the buffer to be overwritten. An attacker is in control of the image's height, width, and contents. This is a 1st-time installation of both Wine and Figma. When I first ran Wine, I accepted the offer to install wine-mono (as per recommendations from WineHQ docs). OS: Debian Sid. Apt sources: WineHQ, as per docs. Install command: apt-get install --install-recommends winehq-stable command used, in terminal: wine FigmaSetup.exe 1st run: Crashed. 2nd (and subsequent) run: FigmaSetup.exe says 'Please re-run this installer as a normal user instead of "Run as Administrator"'. If I delete ~/.wine/, I am able to repeat this. Same happens if I use 'wine64' instead of 'wine' in the commandline. TeraTerm sets ReadIntervalTimeout to MAXDWORD and then calls ReadFile asynchronously, and if there's pending IO it waits 1 second for the overlapped struct event to be signalled. If the signal is received, it processes the received I/O, else continues on and will perform another ReadFile. This is the code snippet: if (!ReadFile(cv->ComID,&(cv->InBuff[cv->InBuffCount]), InBuffSize-cv->InBuffCount,&C,&rol)) { if (GetLastError() == ERROR_IO_PENDING) { if (WaitForSingleObject(rol.hEvent, 1000) != WAIT_OBJECT_0) { C = 0; } else { GetOverlappedResult(cv->ComID,&rol,&C,FALSE); } } What's happening in WINE, is ReadFile returns non-zero with ERROR_IO_PENDING and the WaitForSingleObject times out. The asynchronous read *does* complete after the timeout, but by that point the application has given up and moved on. I initially thought the application was at fault, because it should retry if the wait times out. However, in the documentation for ReadFile it points to documentation about COMMTIMEOUTS (https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/win32/api/winbase/ns-winbase-commt…) which says the following: A value of MAXDWORD, combined with zero values for both the ReadTotalTimeoutConstant and ReadTotalTimeoutMultiplier members, specifies that the read operation is to return immediately with the bytes that have already been received, even if no bytes have been received. To me, that means Wine ought not to be triggering an asynchronous read when the comm timeout parameters are set as indicated above. I coded a simple fix, which is in NtReadFile, if avail_mode is TRUE return success even if no bytes were read. See attached patch. To make sure that the bug happens make sure to swirl it around a couple of times. ( A Swirly if you will ) Attached I also noticed this when running winamp manually at startup. This may be related. but then I move winamp and it disappears I don't get any more error messages. So I'm not sure. I have some interessting results. Maybe this is fixable? I'm sure the problem sits in the GDIPlus DLL Short summary: builtin: some menus lags really hard (very low framerate, 2~3 + input lag), all textures are visible native: normal framerate in all menus, but some missing textures (plain white spot where the textures should be) builtin (Wine) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Probably the reason for the heavy lag? Only using builtin gdiplus. fixme:wincodecs:JpegDecoder_Frame_CopyPalette (0x...,0x...): stub fixme:gdiplus:GdipCreateBitmapFromGdiDib (0x2002a60, 0x6b10000, 0x6578c8) - partially implemented Basically a stub and a partially implemented function. Maybe the game requires a better GdipCreateBitmapFromGdiDib implementation or the JpegDecoder_Frame_CopyPalette function. I don't know. NOTE: The JpegDecoder_Frame_CopyPalette fixme doesn't appear with the native gdiplus. native (Windows) - winetricks gdiplus ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ No lag there, but now some textures are missing. Instead of the texture which should be there, there is only a plain white spot. The 'generated' texture files are empty files (0 byte). You can verify this by youself easily: the cache folder is in the game folder. ($GAME/cache) This is the fixme which is spammed in the terminal when using the native gdiplus, installed using winetricks. fixme:bitmap:SetBitmapBits Unhandled partial pixel The other 2 fixmes from the builtin version are completely gone.
